“We are not a place people just pass through. We are the house at the end of the square — the one with the green door, where you end up staying longer than you planned.”

The terrace

A terrace looking out over the Haut-Var

A reed canopy stretched over iron arches, a fig tree for shade, string lights from post to post. Beyond, the hills roll south until they fade into the haze. A second terrace spreads across the square, in the shade of the olive trees.

The village

Tourtour, the village in the sky

Stone lanes, fountains, olive trees in the middle of the square. Perched at around 635 metres and listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Tourtour is best explored on foot — and best finished at the table.

About 20 km from Draguignan, 10 km from Aups and 7 km from Villecroze, it makes a natural stop on a day out in the Haut-Var.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I eat in Tourtour?

La Farigoulette is at 7 Place des Ormeaux, in the centre of the village. This traditional Provençal restaurant serves lunch and dinner on a panoramic terrace, in a vaulted stone dining room and out on the square under the olive trees. It is also the village bar and tobacconist.

Does the restaurant have a terrace with a view?

Yes. The terrace, covered by a reed canopy and shaded by a fig tree, overlooks the Haut-Var valley. Tables facing the view are booked first, so do mention it when you call.

What kind of food does La Farigoulette serve?

How do I get there from Draguignan, Aups or Villecroze?
